This means their arms are coming out of the water and their legs are constantly kicking. Rotary breathing is not necessary but they should be able to take a breath or two as they go. Able to confidently perform the back crawl for 15 feet. This means their hand is coming out of the water by their side and going in with a straight arm behind their head. 3D Printing: Nintendo Themed Characters (Ages 8-12)Summer - E-STEMBring your favorite video game worlds to life by creating Nintendo-inspired characters with TinkerCAD while learning essential 3D design skills. Students will model unique creations in three dimensions, experiment with shapes and structures, and transform their digital ideas into real objects using 3D printers. While prints are finishing, campers can join Nintendo-themed challenges and even design their own video games inspired by the characters they love. Each student will have two small printed projects sent home. Printing and material fees are included. Bring a USB drive on the last day. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (Ages 15+)CPR/First Aid/Water SafetyThis class is designed to train one to become a Red Cross Lifeguard. This class will be taught in a blended model which includes seven hours of online content to be completed prior to in-person sessions. Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years Swim-Tread-Swim sequence: swim 150 yards continuously using front crawl, breast stroke, or a combination of both, next tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs, and then swim 50 yards continuously using front crawl, breast stroke, or a combination of both. Lastly, complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point exit the water without using steps or a ladder. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years.CE Adult Summer 2026

American Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification (Ages 15+)CPR/First Aid/Water SafetyWaitlistThe Lifeguarding Recertification course is designed to refresh your knowledge and skills. Upon successful completion, you will renew your certification for another two years. This class will be blended learning (online + classroom). The latest blended learning course, r.24 that includes online + in-person skill demonstration, features adaptive learning, where participants can test out of the online content they already know, allowing participants to ensure they are prepared. The result is a custom learning path for each student in the online portion of the blended learning recertification course. To participate in the Lifeguarding Recertification class you must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, and certification expired by no more than 30 days. During the course, individuals will have the opportunity to review and practice their skills. Participants must pass the final written test and the three (3) final skill assessments which include: Assessment 1 - Timed Response • Participants must complete a passive submerged rescue, extricate with the assistance of an assisting rescuer, and rapid assessment (including the delivery of 2 initial ventilations by either rescuer) within 1 minute, 30 seconds, and then provide 3 minutes of single-rescuer CPR. Assessment 2 - Rotation and Scanning • Participants must rotate into the lifeguard station, conduct surveillance from the station for 1 minute, and rotate out of the station. Assessment 3 - Final Team Response Testing Scenario • Participants must perform a passive submerged rescue, extrication and rapid assessment, followed by multiple-rescuer CPR and use of AED and BVM resuscitator. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding recertification course will be issued one of the following American Red Cross certificates depending on the recertification course taken: Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Shallow Water Lifeguarding (Up to 5, 6 or 7’) Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding (Up to 3’) Waterfront Skills Waterpark Skills Certifications are valid up to 2 years.CE Adult Summer 2026

American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) - (Ages 15+)CPR/First Aid/Water SafetyThe Water Safety Instructor, also known as WSI™, course trains instructor candidates to teach all of the courses presented in the Swimming and Water Safety program to all age groups; all of the courses listed above, plus Learn-to-Swim Levels 4-6 and Adult Swim. This certification is the gold standard and provides the most comprehensive training for swim instructors. This course is offered as a hybrid model online and in-person training will be provided. During our swim instructor certification training courses you'll learn how to help individuals enjoy their time in the water safely – and in a wide range of ways. Throughout the courses we'll focus on a number of key areas that can help you succeed as aquatics instructor, such as: Water safety at public pools, homes, natural bodies of water and more, including the Circle of Drowning Prevention and Chain of Drowning Survival. Hydrodynamics, including why some things float, resistance to movement and creating movement in water, swimming efficiency and laws of levers. Basic safety, survival and swimming skills to help children gain water competency. Helping people with disabilities and other health conditions enjoy the water safely.
