FullAugust 2026 - Screening AppointmentsEarly Childhood ScreeningEarly Childhood Screening The early childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are important times of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a free and simple check of how your child is growing and developing offered through the Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools. Early Childhood Screening is a free developmental check-up required by the State of Minnesota for all preschool-aged children. Children between the ages of 3 and 4 years old, who live in district 719 need to participate in a screening before entering kindergarten. Between the ages of 3 and 4, screening can detect possible health or learning concerns so that children can get help before they start school. Parents may accompany their child through the approximately one-hour-long process. After the screening activities, the screener shares information regarding the child’s growth, development and learning. Click here for an informational video. This course is best suited for ages 10-13 interested in learning the current practices of caring for young children and how to manage their babysitting business. Students will learn safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants and how to handle behavior problems.
